My name is Andrew ‘Tiny’ Duff and I am proud to be able to offer you my services in the yachting industry.

I was first introduced to boating in and around the Banks Peninsula on New Zealand’s South Island at the tender age of four days old. Like many young Kiwis, salt water now runs through my veins. From teenage dinghy sailing and racing such as Optimists, P-Class, Moths, I progressed to the keelboat scene on Young 88’s and Farr 1020’s, and by 15 I owned my own yacht.

Following high school, I completed a Certificate in Boatbuilding at UNITEC in Auckland. Meanwhile, I spent four years working with the team at Sunsail/Moorings, honing my skills between the bases in Auckland and the Bay of Islands in New Zealand, as well as the ones in the Kingdom of Tonga and Hamilton Island, Australia.

Since, I gained a Commercially Endorsed Yacht Master Ocean. I have over 150,000 nautical miles of experience. I have worked on a wide range of motor and sailing yachts and was joined by my wife Gemma in this line of work 7 years ago. We have sailed across the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, and raced in offshore and inshore events such as the Rolex Middle Sea Race and the Rolex Swan Cup. We have been in beautiful and exotic destinations in many parts of the world, from the Baltic and North Seas to the Mediterranean, Caribbean, US East Coast and have sailed through the South Pacific.

After returning from long-term contracts as a skipper, with Gemma as Stewardess/Mate, we decided to settle back in New Zealand and established GT Yachting Ltd. By the way ‘GT’ stands for Gemma and Tiny; I’m 6 ft 5 in., constantly squeezing into small places, so I guess my nickname was inevitable. Today, Gemma and I run GT YACHTING LTD from our base in Auckland, New Zealand.
